WHY WE LISTEN

We’ve all learned basic history in school. We’ve studied the wars inside and out, we’ve memorized the dates, and we’ve read the textbooks cover to cover. But the unfortunate truth is that the textbooks will only tell you so much- and only from one perspective. As my mother learned firsthand, “Victors always tell their stories in the way that makes them look best.” However, I believe it is absolutely vital that we learn all of these first-hand stories inside and out. We have to hear about every aspect of our history- even the parts we wish we could pretend never happened. Otherwise, we are doomed to repeat it.

WHAT EACH GENERATION HAS SEEN

I have had a lot of time lately to think about a lot of things. When I was younger I used to think of the amazing things my grandparents witnessed in their lifetime. I am now at their stage and have been thinking about the times my generation has lived through.
